Square Footage: 4,600
Location: North York
Our latest modern design project focuses on creating a space that achieves the functionality of giving two families adequate space and separation, while not compromising on aesthetic vision for this structure. The second floor massing of this home is significantly larger than the first floor, creating a cantilevered overhang across the North side of the structure. This modern linear feature is justified by the second storey of the structure utilization of inset window details, through the cantilevered rear covered porch area and deck, as well as through the inset front door. The exterior material palette of this home also provides a sense of stark colour differences by pairing a dark parged concrete finish, a smooth linear limestone column feature, and a light coloured stucco finish across portions of the main floor. Slat siding provides a warm and inviting transition between materials used throughout the exterior by utilizing the exterior overhang faces and the garage door as some of the key transition areas.
