Modern Lakehouse

The Modern Lakehouse project in Beaverton, ON sought to create a highly modern getaway on the shores of Lake Simcoe, designed to fully capture, and frame, the nature that surrounds it. The space maximizes views of the lake using floor to ceiling windows on the west and south elevations, including an impressive 22 foot tall atrium, and the principle bedroom where strategic furniture placement, and the use of a glass wall overlooking the atrium below, allow for full water views in three directions.

The unique property features many mature trees which are framed using intentional window placement throughout so each interior space within the luxurious home is embraced by the nature that surrounds it. The wood clad ceilings inside flow to the custom milled and stained pine soffits outside creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces, while the extended walkout deck that lines the entire rear elevation merges the two spaces.

The front of the home juxtaposes the outwardly and invitingly modern rear facade, utilizing a proportionately imposing diamond cut slate clad massing and two storey archway over the front entrance that is clad with the same custom milled and stained pine that contrasts the aluminum panels gracing the rear facade.

Inside, warm natural finishes such as white oak and slate clad the floors and walls of this fully automated home, which features a custom built luxury sauna created in collaboration with Hammam Spa, a full gym, purpose built home office, a chef’s kitchen, and a second floor loft overlooking the atrium all paired with direct lake access. The result is the perfect tranquil luxury nature retreat for the busy occupants and their guests providing a break from their fast paced lives.
